Mumbai: The Interactive Lawyers Association for Women, a group of practicing women advocates in Mumbai, has raised a serious grievance with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, regarding the lack of toilet facilities for women at the Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) premises.

In a letter has highlighted the urgent need for a dedicated women’s washroom on the ground floor of the Old Sachivalaya Building, where the court operates.

According to the association, female advocates, litigants, and staff members have been facing persistent inconvenience due to the absence of a designated women’s restroom on the ground floor. Currently, only a men’s washroom is available, forcing women to use the shared facilities on the first floor, which are used by multiple occupants of the building.

Referring to the government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the letter urges authorities to take immediate action in ensuring a basic and essential facility for women at the SCDRC premises. The grievance has also been forwarded to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for prompt intervention.
