Passengers traveling between Mumbai and Gandhinagar on the Vande Bharat Express may soon find it easier to secure confirmed tickets. In response to the surging popularity of the Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express, the Western Railway has decided to add four additional AC chair car coaches to this semi high-speed train.
Although an official date for the introduction of these coaches has yet to be announced, sources within the railway department confirmed that the augmentation is expected to happen soon.
Currently, the semi-high-speed train operates with 16 coaches—14 AC Chair Car and 2 Executive Class—offering a total seating capacity of 1,128 passengers (1,024 in Chair Car and 104 in Executive Class). The train, which has seen an average occupancy rate of around 150 percent, has become a preferred travel option for many due to its speed and comfort.
"With the addition of four more AC Chair Car coaches, the total number of coaches will rise to 20, and the passenger capacity will increase by 312 seats, bringing the total to 1,440. This move is aimed at easing the rush and meeting the growing demand on this busy route" said an official of WR
"Hence, with the addition of 4 coaches to the Mumbai Central - Gandhinagar- Mumbai Central train, nearly 2.5 lakh passengers will be directly benefited each year on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route" he said.
