Massive Fire Breaks Out At Mumbai's Borivali West Skywalk |

Mumbai: Panic gripped commuters at Borivali railway station on Thursday evening after a massive fire broke out on the skywalk adjoining the station’s western side around 7:30 pm. Eyewitnesses reported sudden flames erupting from the structure, causing alarm among the crowd. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.

According to officials, the Mumbai Fire Brigade promptly dispatched two fire engines to the scene upon receiving an alert. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control before it could escalate further. “The fire was extinguished quickly, and no one was harmed in the incident,” said an official from the fire brigade.

Visuals Show Terrifying Scenes Of Fire On Skywalk

Videos of the fire, circulating widely on social media, showed terrifying scenes of the incident. One clip shot by a commuter standing underneath the skywalk shows sparks flying from a dense cluster of electric cables attached to the structure, with flames visibly cascading downward. Another video, filmed from atop the skywalk, shows thick smoke rising as commuters move away from the danger zone.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, preliminary suspicion points towards an electrical fault. A detailed investigation was launched into the incident to determine the source and assess if any safety violations were involved. The incident disrupted foot traffic on the busy skywalk temporarily, with police cordoning off the area to ensure commuter safety during firefighting operations.

Another Fire Reported Same Day

In a separate incident earlier in the day, a fire was reported at a 32-storey residential tower, Sarova Complex, in Thakur Village, Kandivali East. The blaze was reported around 8:45 am and was brought under control by 9:11 am.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade classified it as a minor fire call and stated that the blaze was confined to electrical wiring, household items and electrical installations. Officials believe a short circuit could have sparked the fire.

Responding units included fire brigade personnel, officers from the Samta Nagar Police Station, and teams from Adani Electricity. All residents were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported in the fire.
