Navi Mumbai: A viral Instagram video exposed shocking hygiene issues at Meraki Chinese in Navi Mumbai. The footage showed rotten food, cockroaches, dirty sinks and unwashed utensils. When confronted, the manager blamed pest control, yet food service continued, raising serious public health concerns and sparking outrage across social media.
The video was shared by the Instagram account @mirajparekh.me. In the video, Miraj walks into the kitchen and shows the shocking state of the place. There was rotten food, cockroaches crawling around, dirty sinks and countertops, and unwashed utensils everywhere. The floor and drainage are also in very bad condition. When Miraj asked the restaurant manager, Vishu, about it, he said pest control was going on, which is why things were out of place. But they were still serving food, which is a serious health violation.
This isn’t just bad hygiene. It’s a serious health hazard,” said Miraj in his video. “People are eating food from a kitchen like this? It’s unacceptable.” His post has since gone viral, sparking outrage among viewers and prompting widespread concern about public health safety.
Many are now calling for an urgent inspection and the immediate shutdown of the restaurant in question. In the caption of his post, Miraj posed critical questions: How many people may have fallen sick after eating here? Why hasn’t the establishment been flagged or shut down earlier? Is someone turning a blind eye to these conditions? These questions have sparked public demand for answers and accountability.

User tagged multiple authorities in his Instagram post, including @my_bmc, @fssai_safefood, @fssaiindia, @nmmc_online, @cmomaharashtra, and @mohfw_india, demanding immediate action and questioning how such an establishment is still allowed to operate.
This is not a kitchen; it’s a breeding ground for disease,” Miraj emphasised. He is now urging citizens to share the video, tag relevant authorities, and demand immediate action. As the video continues to circulate online, pressure is mounting on local health officials to investigate the situation and take appropriate measures to protect public health.
