Navi Mumbai: A man was seriously injured after being thrown off a bridge during a robbery attempt in Vashi late Tuesday night. Vashi Police have arrested two accused and booked them for robbery and attempted murder.
The incident took place around 11.15pm near the PKC Hospital bridge on Palm Beach Road. The victim, identified as Milind Madhukar Ingle (55), a resident of Sector 15, Vashi, was walking home when two men allegedly attacked him. The accused – Chinmay Shashikant Dhawale (21) and Rohan Ravindra Jagtap (20) – were reportedly lying in wait and attempted to rob Ingle.
When the victim resisted, the duo assaulted him, stole Rs 100 and his mobile phone, and then threw him off the bridge in an attempt to escape. Ingle sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Alerted by Ingle's screams, local residents managed to apprehend one of the suspects, Chinmay Dhawale, on the spot. The second accused, Rohan Jagtap, initially fled but was arrested the next day from Chembur.

Both men have been remanded to judicial custody and sent to Taloja Jail. Police investigations are ongoing.
"We are investigating if the accused had any criminal records," a police officer from Vashi police station said.
