Vasai-Virar News: Two Youths Drown In Chinchoti River Despite Safety Warnings And Restrictions

Palghar, Maharashtra: A picnic turned tragic on Monday when two young men from Goregaon, Mumbai, drowned in the Chinchoti River near Naigaon. The victims, part of a group of six friends, were caught in a strong river current while bathing.

According to police, the group arrived in the scenic but risky Chinchoti area around 11 am. Despite existing restrictions on visiting the spot due to past incidents, the friends entered the river in the afternoon. Two of them, identified as Prem Pralhad Shahajrao (22) and Sushil Bharat Dhable (25), both residents of Ashok Nagar, Goregaon, were swept away by the current.

Their friends immediately alerted the authorities. A search operation was launched by the police and fire brigade, and the bodies were recovered by 5 pm. Both have been sent for post-mortem.

This is not the first time the area has witnessed such a tragedy. Despite repeated warnings and restrictions by local authorities, Chinchoti continues to attract visitors, often with fatal consequences.
