A 51-year-old businessman was allegedly killed his wife and daughter and later died by committing suicide in the home due to financial burdens and issues in Ulhanagar on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Pahuja (51), his wife Neha Pahuja (45), and their daughter Roshani Pahuja (16), who lived in Ulhasnagar. The incident took place on the third floor of Harsha Cottage in Bewas Chowk, Ulhasnagar, on Thursday morning.
According to the police, Pahuja worked in the gold-making business in Ulhasnagar. He initially strangled his wife and daughter and later killed himself by hanging in their home. The police were alerted by brother about the incident. Upon receiving the information, they reached the spot and discovered that three people had died in the home.
They immediately took them to the central hospital for medical procedures, where they were declared dead on arrival. According to the sources, their daughter had passed the tenth standard, and the results came out two days ago. "The sources said that Pahuja may have been driven into depression caused by the death of his younger son six months ago and financial burden or issues" police sources said.
The police had informed the forensic team to collect medical evidence from the spot. They were questioning the neighbors and family members regarding the drastic step that was taken by Pahuja, which resulted in the loss of two lives.
The police said that initially, an Accidental Death Report was filed at Ulhasnagar police station. During the investigation, an FIR was registered against Pawan Pahuja on the charge of murder.
A relative of Pahuja stated that Pahuja had recorded a video prior to committing suicide, in which he explained the reason behind this drastic step to end his life along with his wife and daughter. Pahuja often shared his problems with him.
DCP Sachin Gore of the Ulhasnagar Division said, "Pahuja, along with his wife and daughter, was in their room. He first strangled his wife and daughter, after which he took a dupatta and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. Pahuja's brother, who had been in another room in the house, knocked on the door in the morning but did not get a response.
Later, he broke the door and found Pahuja hanging, while the two were on the bed. During the preliminary investigation, it was shown that he took this drastic step due to financial burdens or issues. Further investigation is ongoing."
Gore further added that we found a video that was recorded prior to the suicides in which he mentioned that he took this step on his own and that no one would be responsible for this.
