Thane: A 17-year-old boy was electrocuted after coming into contact with a live wire while climbing onto the roof of his house on Tuesday morning in Ulhasnagar. The deceased, identified as Ayush Rai, lived with his parents and siblings at Camp 2 in the Shastri Nagar area of Ulhasnagar.
Teen Dies While Shielding Home From Rain
According to police, the incident occurred when Ayush and his father, Ramchandra, went up to the roof to place plastic sheets in an effort to protect their home from rain. During the process, Ayush reportedly touched a live wire and collapsed on the spot.
Local residents rushed to the scene and took him to Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Accidental Death Report Registered
Senior Police Inspector Shankar Awatade of Central Police Station said, “So far, we have registered an accidental death report. Preliminary investigation suggests that the boy's hand came into contact with a live wire that was hanging just before the roof.”

Anger Over Alleged Negligence By Electricity Supplier
The incident has left the local community in shock. Residents expressed anger over what they called the electricity supply company's negligence, blaming it for not addressing the hazard posed by exposed wiring near residential rooftops.
