Thane: Thane police are ramping up security measures for New Year's Eve, with a particular focus on preventing illegal rave parties and drug use. Drone surveillance will be employed to monitor secluded areas along the Thane Creek, while police teams will conduct raids on potential party hotspots such as scenic spots, dhabas, and farmhouses.

To ensure public safety, over 7,500 police personnel will be deployed across Thane City and Rural, supplemented by over 500 traffic police to curb drunk driving. A strong crackdown on drunk driving has already commenced, with increased enforcement to prevent accidents.

Last year, a successful police raid on a Kasarvadavali creek rave party resulted in the seizure of drugs worth Rs. 8.03 lakh and the arrest of 97 individuals. This incident underscores the police's commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order during the festive season.

Thane police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activity, including information about drug sales, consumption, or the occurrence of rave parties. By working together, the police aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year's celebration for all residents.
