The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of Thane Police apprehended a woman agent and rescued three women from a flesh trade racket in Mumbra.
According to officials, acting on a tip-off from local informers on July 22, police received information that a woman was planning to call three women and force them into prostitution. Acting swiftly, a team was deployed and a trap was laid near the railway bridge on Mumbra-Kalwa Road. The woman agent was caught, and the three women were rescued.

The rescued victims were brought to the police station for further inquiry. An FIR was registered against the accused under Sections 3(1) and 3(2) of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. She was produced before the court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
An official from the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell said, “The rescued women have been sent to an observation home in Ulhasnagar. We are investigating to determine how many others might be involved in this racket.
