A laptop from the Land Record Department office in Bhiwandi was stolen by a burglar who allegedly entered the premises by breaking the washroom window’s grill between Saturday evening and Monday morning. The police stated that the incident took place at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Land Records in Bhiwandi, which is located near the Bhiwandi DCP, ACP office, Tahsildar, and Sub-Divisional Office.

According to police sources, the burglar allegedly gained entry by breaking the washroom window’s grill and made off with a laptop, after ransacking belongings in the office. The theft came to light when a staff member arrived, opened the office, and found the belongings misplaced. Upon further inspection, they discovered that one laptop was missing. The staff immediately informed the Superintendent of the office and approached the police to register a complaint.

An FIR was filed by Sunil Ingale against an unidentified individual under Sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305(A) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita at Nizampura Police Station on February 7. The stolen laptop is valued at approximately ₹50,000.

A Police Inspector from Nizampura Police Station said, “We rushed to the spot after receiving the complaint. We are reviewing CCTV footage from the office. A forensic team was also called in to collect fingerprints and other concrete evidence. Further investigation is ongoing.”

Sachin Hamjade, Deputy Superintendent of Land Records, Bhiwandi, added, “Our staff discovered that belongings were disturbed and a laptop was missing. They alerted me and immediately informed the police, who began their investigation.”

Meanwhile, local residents have raised concerns regarding the security of government offices, especially considering that the DCP, ACP office, and other key administrative buildings are located in the vicinity.
