Thane: The Shantinagar Police caught a juvenile red-handed while he was collecting money on behalf of a main accused of blackmailing an 18-year-old girl by threatening to circulate her private photos and videos in society. The main accused has been identified as Hashar Mohammad Ali Ansari, a resident of Bhiwandi, who had allegedly sent the juvenile to collect money from the victim.
According to police, the incident took place at the victim’s residence on July 13. The victim stated in her complaint that Ansari had captured objectionable photos and videos of her and then demanded money, threatening to leak the content on social media if she failed to comply. He also warned her not to tell anyone, or she would face serious consequences.
Disturbed by the threats, the victim informed her family, and they immediately approached the Shantinagar Police Station. The police laid a trap at the specified location, where the accused had instructed the victim to deliver the money. As per the plan, the victim went to the spot, and as soon as the juvenile tried to take the money bag from her, he was nabbed by the police.
The juvenile was brought to the police station, and an FIR was registered against both him and Ansari. Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad of the Shantinagar Police Station said, “No arrests have been made yet. We have summoned the accused to appear in police station for recording their statements. Further investigation is underway.”
An FIR was registered on July 15 under Sections 308(3) (Putting a person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 351(2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
