Thane: The Kalwa police arrested two thieves for allegedly stealing motorcycles from the Thane and Mumbai areas and confiscated three motorcycles worth Rs 2,50,000 from their possession. The arrested accused have been identified as Arbaz Mohammad Khan (22) and Asif Ali Shaikh (22), residents of Mumbra, Thane.
The police said that a motorcycle was stolen in Kalwa Naka in Thane between April 8 and April 9. The complainant named Ashraf Khan approached the police station and filed a case under the relevant sections of 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nagar Sanhita.
According to the police, they formed a team and started to investigate the matter. They were reviewing the CCTV footage in a nearby locality. Based on technical intelligence and CCTV footage, they located them and laid a trap in Mumbra, apprehending them.
During the preliminary investigation, they seized three motorcycles worth Rs 2,50,000 from their possession. However, one Yamaha bike with registration number MH 04-LR-6117 was worth Rs 1,30,000, a Jupiter TV motorcycle with registration number MH04-KE 7687 was worth Rs 60,000, and a Honda Activa with registration number MH-03-BU-5464 was worth Rs 60,000.
Two FIRs were lodged at Kalwa police station, and one was registered at Pant Nagar police station. The accused were produced in court and remanded into police custody until April 21 for further investigation.
