Thane: The Crime Branch Unit 2 of Thane Police has arrested three individuals for allegedly possessing over 74 kilograms of ganja, valued at ₹37 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Faisal Ansari (44), a driver and resident of Kalyan; Abdul Rehman Ansari (20), a fabrication worker; and Anwar Jamiluddin Ansari (34), also a driver. Both Abdul and Anwar are residents of Dargah Road in Bhiwandi.
According to officials, on July 3, the police received a tip-off from an informer that Faisal Ansari would arrive at Dargah Road in Bhiwandi to sell contraband to Abdul Ansari. Acting on this information, a team was formed and a trap was laid at the location.

All three were apprehended. During the subsequent search, police recovered 74.548 kg of ganja, valued at ₹37.37 lakh, from the residence of Anwar Ansari. A panchanama was conducted, and the contraband was seized.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They were produced before the court and have been remanded to police custody.

An investigating officer said that a probe is underway to determine the source of the contraband from Odisha. Although two NDPS cases had already been registered against Faisal Ansari earlier, further investigation is ongoing.
