A 40-year-old woman jumped to death from the 31st floor apartment of a Thane building late on Sunday. The police said that the victim, Priya Nagvekar, was living in the rented apartment in the plush society in Rabodi locality for the past five years. She was residing in the apartment alone after her divorce five years ago, the Rabodi police said, adding that they have filed an accidental death report.

Assistant Police Inspector Avinash Yeola said that the society's security alerted the police about the incident around 12.15 am on Monday. “The woman's body was lying in a pool of blood in the compound. She kept the spare keys of her flat with a neighbour, which we used to enter the house,” Yeola said. The police did not find any suicide note.

The police said that the victim's brother lives in Canada and her body was handed over to her sister-in-law who resides in Thane.
