Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the Mahayuti government in a press conference on Thursday. He also criticised the BJP’s 'Saugat-e-Modi' program, calling it an example of hypocrisy in their Hindutva stance.
Criticism Of 'Saugat-e-Modi'
Uddhav Thackeray ridiculed the BJP’s 'Saugat-e-Modi' program, labelling it as a mere gimmick. “When Muslims voted for us in large numbers, BJP’s eyes turned white with shock. If Muslims vote, they call it ‘Satta Jihad’ (Power Jihad)."
"But now, for Eid, they have launched the 'Saugat-e-Modi' campaign, where 32 lakh BJP workers will visit the homes of 32 lakh Muslims. This is not 'Saugat-e-Modi', this is sheer shamelessness. This is 'Saugat-e-Satta' (a gift for power). These people are fake Hindutva proponents,” Thackeray said.
'Who Will Protect Hindu Women's Mangalsutras Now?'
He accused the BJP of double standards, stating, “They use Muslims as scapegoats when it suits them, but during elections, they distribute sweets. Look at how these turncoats suddenly don skullcaps now. Before accusing me of abandoning Hindutva, remove the green color from your flag first. Who will protect the mangalsutras of Hindu women now? Is there even a true Hindutva party left?” Thackeray questioned.
He further challenged the BJP, saying, “Is 'Saugat-e-Satta' only for the Bihar and UP elections, or will it continue beyond that? The BJP should openly declare that they have abandoned Hindutva.”
Thackeray’s remarks have intensified the ongoing political battle, adding fuel to the debate over BJP’s stance on Hindutva and its outreach strategies during elections.
