Mumbai: In the Saif Ali Khan case, before committing the crime, the accused, Shariful Islam, 30, arrived in Mumbai from Kolkata via the Gitanjali Express about eight and a half months ago. Prior to that, he had lived in Kolkata for 15 days. However, the chargesheet does not mention how he entered India from Bangladesh. It only states that he entered India illegally, but the exact method remains unclear.

The chargesheet states that the police found several Bangladeshi documents' screenshots on his mobile phone. During the investigation, he told the investigating officer, "I am a Bangladeshi citizen and arrived in Mumbai eight and a half months ago. I stayed in Kolkata for 15 days and then travelled to Mumbai via the Gitanjali Express. My maternal step-uncle lives in Kolkata. He came to India at a young age, married an Indian woman, and has children here."

Meanwhile, the chargesheet does not specify how he entered India. It simply states that he entered illegally, without a passport or any relevant documents. A police officer said that the accused entered India on his own, not through any agent. He checked the route or way on his mobile, and it was found that he travelled by road and train to enter India illegally. It is mentioned in the chargesheet that he entered India unlawfully.

Another police officer said, "How he arrived in India is a separate matter. His crime in India is a different issue." After his arrest, several stories surfaced about his illegal entry into India, such as claims that he swam across a river, entered through an agent, and more.
