Mumbai: In the wake of growing scrutiny over the investigation into the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence, Paramjitsingh Dahiya, Additional Commissioner of Police, addressed the media on Tuesday, providing key updates and clarifications regarding the case.
Dahiya stated that the police are conducting a clue-based investigation, which is still ongoing. He emphasised that substantial evidence has been collected, including strong technical, oral, and physical evidence, to support the case.
Addressing media speculation about fingerprint reports, Dahiya clarified, "Fingerprint reports have not been received yet. There were many media reports about this, so we are clarifying the situation. So far, we have not received any fingerprint report. We expect to receive it later."
The police have arrested one suspect in connection with the attack, and Dahiya expressed confidence in the arrest, stating, "The person who has been arrested is the accused. We are confident that we have apprehended the right individual."
He also addressed procedural changes in the investigation, explaining, "The Investigating Officer (IO) is the first responder. After that, there is a change, which is part of the administrative process."
Dahiya confirmed that the weapons used in the attack have been recovered by the police. He also provided clarity on the timeline of events, stating, "The victim arrived at Lilavati Hospital at 2:45 am. There is no doubt about the time of his arrival."
Regarding the initial reporting of the incident, Dahiya revealed, "We received the information from Lilavati Hospital; Saif did not make the call."

Earlier, it war reported that the medico-legal report filed by the hospital's Dr Bhargavi Patil to the Bandra police stated that the actor was admitted to the hospital at 4.11 a.m.
