Mumbai: The mystery surrounding the Saif Ali Khan attack case remains intact despite a press conference held by the additional commissioner of police Paramjit Singh Dahia on Tuesday. Several questions continue to remain unanswered. They are:

* Dahia insisted that a bleeding Khan was brought to Lilavati hospital at 2.47 a.m. Then how come Dr Bhargavi Patil of the hospital in her medico-legal report to Bandra police said the actor was admitted at 4.11 a.m.?

* Dahia did not clarify as to who exactly brought Saif to the hospital in an autorickshaw? The auto driver Bhajan Singh Rane, who has no reason to lie, said Saif was accompanied by an adult and a child (presumablyTaimur).

* Who was the man who accompanied Saif to the hospital? Earlier reports suggested it was Ibrahim, his son from his first marriage. But Dr Patil says he was Afsar Zaidi, who is a businessman known to be close to the actor. There are also reports that Saif's servant Hari rushed him to the hospital apparently at the instance of Kareena. Why is the police not confirming as to who accompanied Saif? Also, why are they silent on the Taimur angle?

* It is strange that Kareena did not rush her bleeding husband to Lilavati and even more strange that she let 7 yo Taimur to accompany his bleeding father. There is zeo clarity on this.

* The staff nurse who was the first to confront the accused Shariful Islam had told the police that the latter had used a hacksaw blade and a blunt instrument. She had not mentioned about the knife even though she had witnessed the repeated stabbings. Dahiya talked about the use of a hacksaw blade and a knife. However, the hospital claims to have removed a 2.5" of the knife. What happened to the hacksaw blade? What was it used for?

* Dr Patil had described the wounds as ``lacerations." Forensic experts insist that lacerations cannot be caused by a sharp weapon like a knife. Only a blunt weapon can cause them. Dahiya, however, said a knife was used. So what is the truth?

There was an omerta or code of silence between the hospital, Saif's family and the police. Now the police have spoken up, but not completely. The hospital administration and Saif's family, for some strange reason, continue to maintain a studied silence.
