Thane: The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has appealed to all shops selling chickens, mutton, and fish under its jurisdiction to remain shut on the occasion of Ram Navami.

The appeal was made by Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation officials seeking cooperation from shopkeepers. In a statement issued on Thursday, they informed all shopkeepers selling mutton, chickens, and fish on the day of the Ram Navami festival to remain closed as per State Government notifications.

The KDMC official said that the aforementioned shops and slaughterhouses will remain closed from Saturday night at 12:00 AM to Sunday at 12:00 AM.

The Licensing Department of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation officials said that they will take stringent action against those who open their shops. Action was taken under sections 334, 336, and 376(A) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.
