In a significant step towards boosting youth employment and industrial training in Raigad, a state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre the third of its kind in Maharashtra and the first in the district – will soon be established in Roha. The centre is a collaborative initiative of the Maharashtra Government, Tata Technologies, MIDC, and the Roha Municipal Council.

Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar laid the foundation stone for the landmark project on Friday. Slated for completion by May 2026, the centre will be operated by Tata Technologies and will offer world-class training to over 3,000 students annually in modern technical domains, including Artificial Intelligence and industrial technology.

World-Class Infrastructure on 1,700 Sq. M Land in Roha

The facility will be developed on a 1,700 square metre plot provided by the Roha Municipal Council, featuring a 12,500 sq. ft. building equipped with industry-grade machinery, tools, hardware, and software. Once completed, the infrastructure and equipment will be transferred to the government, while Tata Technologies will continue to manage operations.

Project to Boost MSMEs and Local Employability

The project carries an estimated cost of Rs 115 crore, of which Tata Technologies will contribute Rs 98 crore and MIDC will fund Rs 17 crore. Aimed at enhancing employability and industrial competitiveness, the centre will cater not only to students but also to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

Ajit Pawar and Aditi Tatkare Emphasise Need for Tech Skills

Emphasising the growing demand for tech-driven skills, Deputy CM Pawar said, “With AI and advanced technologies transforming every sector, technical education is essential. This centre will give Raigad’s youth direct access to world-class training without having to leave their hometowns.”

Minister for Women and Child Development Aditi Tatkare praised the project’s timing and strategic value. She noted that Roha MIDC, known for its stable industrial base, will greatly benefit from the availability of skilled manpower. She expressed confidence that the centre will be completed as planned under Tata’s expertise and the Deputy CM’s leadership.

MP Sunil Tatkare Calls It a 'Game-Changer' for the District

MP Sunil Tatkare described the upcoming centre as a game-changer for Raigad. He urged MSMEs and academic institutions to actively collaborate with the facility to leverage its full potential and make the district a powerhouse of skilled talent.

Swamitva and Awas Yojana Titles Distributed at Event

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Deputy CM Pawar also distributed property titles under the Swamitva Yojana to five beneficiaries from digitally mapped villages. Land titles under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were also handed out, aligning with the government’s regularisation and housing initiatives.

Dignitaries at the event included former MLA Aniket Tatkare, Mangaon Education Society President Adv. Rajeev Sable, Raigad CEO Neha Bhosale, Superintendent of Police Aachal Dalal, Additional Collector Sunil Thorave, Civil Surgeon Dr. Nishikant Patil, Tata Technologies Global Head of Government Projects Sushil Kumar, and Project Coordinator Pritam Ganjewar.

Raigad Poised for Industrial and Educational Transformation

Once operational, the Roha Skill Development Centre is expected to serve as a regional catalyst for employment, entrepreneurship, and industrial growth, placing Raigad firmly on the state’s skill development map.

"Raigad having many industrial belts, this initiative is going to be a game changer," Raigad District Information Officer said.
