Panvel To Host 'Mayukha' Dance Festival Showcasing Indian Classical Heritage

Panvel To Host 'Mayukha' Dance Festival Showcasing Indian Classical Heritage |

The cultural fabric of Panvel is set to come alive with the colors of Indian classical dance as Nrutyarpana Fine Arts Centre presents ‘Mayukha’, a festival dedicated to the preservation and promotion of India’s rich dance traditions. The grand event, blending tradition with artistry, will be held on August 23 at 6 p.m. at Virupaksha Mangal Karyalaya, Panvel. Entry to the festival will be free of charge.

Mohiniyattam in Nalanda Style

The highlight of the inaugural evening will be a mesmerizing solo Mohiniyattam performance in the Nalanda style, presented by Natya Kalamandiram Centre for Arts under the guidance of Kalashree Kalamandalam C. Gopalakrishnan. A live orchestra will accompany the performance, promising audiences an immersive cultural experience.

Vision of Nayana Prakash

Conceptualized and directed by Nayana Prakash, a disciple of Padma Bhushan Dr. Kanak Rele and alumna of Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, Mayukha aims to provide a common platform for artists, art lovers, and cultural enthusiasts.

With her postgraduate expertise in Performing Arts and years of dedication to Mohiniyattam, Nayana Prakash has showcased her art on several prestigious stages. Known for blending Lasya (grace) with Roudram (intensity), her productions strike a fine balance of tradition and innovation.

Guests of Honour

The festival willbe attended by  MLA Prashant Thakur, MLC Vikrant Patil, former PMC House Leader and Mayukha sponsor Paresh Thakur, and National Telephone Advisory Committee member Ramesh. Special guests include Dr. Uma Rele, Principal of Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya; Mohiniyattam exponent and director Dr. Dimple Nair; Malayalam actress and dancer Devi Chanda; and Marathi actress and classical dancer Tanvi Palav.
