Panvel: As part of the ongoing "Safai Apnao – Bimari Bhagao" awareness campaign being conducted from July 1 to July 31, 2025, a special cleanliness drive was organised today around the Kalamboli lake and its surrounding areas.
The initiative aims to promote hygiene, prevent the spread of waterborne diseases during the monsoon season, and enhance the cleanliness of public spaces.
During the drive, garbage was removed from the lake as well as from the surrounding shrubs and waterlogged areas, which are potential breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes responsible for illnesses like dengue and malaria. The effort was focused on maintaining a clean and disease-free environment around the lake.
This campaign, guided by the directives of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, seeks to raise public awareness about hygiene and encourage community participation in maintaining cleanliness.
Residents living near the lake were also sensitised on the importance of keeping their surroundings clean. The drive saw active participation from local citizens and sanitation workers, who contributed their efforts to the cause.
The cleanliness campaign will continue till July 31, 2025, with various similar initiatives planned across the municipal area. Citizens are encouraged to participate actively and support the mission of a cleaner, healthier Panvel.
