In preparation for the upcoming monsoon season, Panvel Municipal Corporation Commissioner conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing pre-monsoon works during a high-level meeting held at the PMC headquarters on May 2.

To prevent untoward incidents during the rainy season, the civic chief of the corporation Mangesh Chitale asked the police department to assist in vacating structurally dangerous buildings. He also directed that police security be deployed in the Pandavkada area, a local hotspot during the monsoon.

Given the risk of heavy rainfall, CIDCO officials were instructed to ensure sewage treatment plant (STP) pumps are in working condition and any necessary repairs are completed ahead of time.

Addressing issues of waterlogging, representatives of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and IRB during the meeting were asked to manage drainage near the highway in front of the bus stand. A structural audit of all roadside hoardings, with reports was asked to be submitted to the civic body

Through the meeting it was emphasized on the urgent need to repair dilapidated district council schools under the Panchayat Samiti before the onset of the monsoon. " It has already been sent to the construction department to complete all road repair works within the city limits at the earliest," said Chitale.

A review of nullah cleaning efforts was conducted, and the health department was instructed to complete cleaning of all major and minor drains by May 20.

In light of potential outbreaks of waterborne and vector-borne diseases during the rainy season, the medical department was asked to stock up on essential medicines and ensure medical facilities are adequately equipped.

Lastly, trimming of dangerous trees and branches from now on is to be carried out in coordination with the electricity department to avoid accidents during storms.
