In a major boost to the transport infrastructure of the tribal-dominated Palghar district, a new Sub-Regional Transport Office (RTO) has been officially sanctioned. The district has now been allotted its own vehicle registration code — MH-60, marking a significant milestone in local governance and public service access. The official government resolution (GR) formalizing the office's establishment will be released soon.
Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the development on Tuesday, fulfilling a commitment he made during a public grievance hearing (Lok Darbar) held in Palghar on April 9. “I had assured the citizens that a sub-regional transport office would soon be set up in the district. That promise has now been fulfilled,” he said.

"The new RTO office is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and improve service delivery in the fast-growing district, which has long demanded its own transport office" he said.
The establishment of the new RTO will bring considerable relief to local residents, who until now had to travel to Vasai-Virar for services like vehicle registration, driving licenses, and other transport-related procedures. The move is expected to save both time and expenses for the people of Palghar.
