Palghar, Maharahtra: A 53-year-old security guard employed at a reputed educational institute in Virar (West) was arrested on Sunday for allegedly sexually assaulting two Class 10 students.

The arrest followed a complaint filed by a senior official of the school-cum-junior college with the Arnala Coastal Police Station. The complaint states that the incident occurred in the third week of June, after school hours. The accused reportedly enticed the two boys, aged 15 and 17, into the school canteen kitchen, where the alleged assault took place.

Upon receiving the complaint, police initiated an investigation, successfully tracking down and apprehending the suspect. He has been taken into custody and charged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with charges of sexual harassment. The accused was subsequently produced in court and has been remanded to police custody. More details to come as investigations go further.
