Over 4,500 Students Join NMMC’s Poster Drive To Promote Cleanliness In Navi Mumbai Schools

In this context, the Solid Waste Management Department of NMMC, the Swachh Maharashtra Abhiyan Cell, and the Education Department jointly organized a ‘Cleanliness Poster Competition’ across municipal primary and secondary schools.

As part of the ‘Adopt Cleanliness – Drive Away Illness’ campaign, several activities have been organized with a special focus on student participation. With the objective of instilling cleanliness values in children from a young age so they grow up to become cleanliness conscious citizens of Navi Mumbai. 

This year’s campaign was inaugurated on July 1 at the Kukashet School.

In this context, the Solid Waste Management Department of NMMC, the Swachh Maharashtra Abhiyan Cell, and the Education Department jointly organized a ‘Cleanliness Poster Competition’ across municipal primary and secondary schools. A total of 4,562 students from 23 schools participated, creatively expressing their ideas of cleanliness through posters.

On July 11, the competition was held enthusiastically at NMMC Primary School No. 36, Koparkhairane Village; School No. 33, Pawne Village; School No. 10, Nerul Village; and School No. 15, Shiravane Village. More than 450 students from grades 6 to 8 actively participated. The competition aimed to highlight the importance of cleanliness and foster strong values among students, while also spreading awareness through their artwork. Many parents were present at the events and participated with enthusiasm.

Likewise, on July 12, students from grades 9 and 10 across 23 municipal secondary schools took part in the poster competition, illustrating their ideas and thoughts on cleanliness through powerful visuals. Their artwork served as an effective medium to raise awareness on hygiene and sanitation. In total, 4,562 students from 23 schools participated in the poster competition.

Following the competitions, poster exhibitions were held at the school level to showcase the students' artwork and further promote cleanliness awareness among the school community.

The best entries from the competitions held on July 11 and 12 will be awarded at the school level to recognize and encourage the creative efforts of participating students.
