Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued an update regarding the recent water cut that affected several areas, including Sector 46 in Seawoods. The civic body confirmed that the repair work on the 1700 mm diameter Morbe main water pipeline located near the Akshar Building along Palm Beach Road has been completed.

The pipeline, which supplies water to a large part of the NMMC area, had undergone connection and repair work from July 18 to July 19, leading to an 18-hour planned water supply disruption. The NMMC shared the update on the social media platform X, informing residents that the water supply has now resumed.

The official statement read: “The repair work on the 1700 mm diameter Morbe main water pipeline, which supplies water to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area, near Akshar Building along Palm Beach Road in Seawoods Sector 46, has been completed, and the water supply has been resumed. Kindly take note of this.”

About Water Cut

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had announced an 18-hour water supply shutdown in several parts of the city due to crucial work on the Morbe main water pipeline. The planned work began at 10 am on Friday, July 18, and continued until 4 am on Saturday, July 19. During this period, a newly installed pipeline was connected to the existing Morbe line.

The 1700 mm diameter pipeline, which supplied drinking water to a large part of Navi Mumbai, ran along Palm Beach Road near the Akshar Building in Nerul Sector 46. Due to frequent leakages along this section in recent months, NMMC had installed a parallel pipeline to prevent further water loss and disruptions. The connection work was part of efforts to improve the reliability of the water supply.

They had mentioned the affected areas within NMMC limits, including Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, and Airoli. In addition, locations with direct tap connections to the main pipeline were also impacted. CIDCO-managed zones like Kharghar and Kamothe had also faced water suspension during this period.
