Navi Mumbai: Under the special initiative 'Operation Shodh' launched by the Navi Mumbai Police, a total of 330 missing persons were successfully located. These included 213 women, 95 men, 10 abducted boys, and 12 abducted girls who had remained untraceable over the past year. The rescued women and children were reunited with their families, who expressed their gratitude to the police for their efforts.
To trace missing women and children, a state-wide campaign titled 'Operation Shodh' was undertaken. Accordingly, the Navi Mumbai Police carried out this campaign from April 17 to May 15.
"For this purpose, a total of 22 teams were formed – 20 at the police station level within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, and 2 teams from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit under the Crime Branch," assistant commissioner of police (crime branch) Ajay Landge said.
During the campaign, updated information was compiled on women and children who had been missing for more than a year without being found. Intensive efforts were then made to trace them.
The 22 police teams coordinated with various child welfare committees in Thane, Ulhasnagar, Karjat, and the superintendent of the Child Observation Home in Thane. They also worked with various NGOs within the Navi Mumbai Commissionerate to locate the missing individuals.
As a result, the police successfully found 213 women, 95 men, 10 abducted boys, and 12 abducted girls – a total of 330 missing and lost persons. All of them have been handed over to their families.
The Navi Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to call the helpline number 103 if they have any information regarding missing women or children from Navi Mumbai.

"Most of the people who were traced back, had left the homes voluntarily either due to domestic issues or with their lovers," one of the officers attached with the operation, said.
