Navi Mumbai: The multi-storeyed pay-and-park facility in Belapur, inaugurated in October 2024, has been shut down by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) following a default by the appointed contractor, M/s Chinmay Enterprises. The civic body has since initiated the process to float a fresh tender to reassign operations of the facility.
In a letter dated June 13, 2025, issued by Dr. Amol Palve, Assistant Commissioner and Divisional Officer (Belapur), NMMC directed the contractor to immediately cease operations at the G+4 parking facility located on Plot No. 39, Sector-15, Belapur. The contractor was ordered to vacate the premises and ensure removal of all parked vehicles within 24 hours.

Eviction Order Issued; Vehicles Still Found Parked at Site
"The decision comes after repeated directives issued by senior municipal officials earlier this year, including an order dated March 17, 2025, from the Deputy Commissioner (Property) and a follow-up letter from the Belapur Divisional Office on March 24, 2025," Dr Palve said. Despite prior notices, NMMC officials observed during the site handover that 7 two-wheelers and 41 other vehicles remained parked at the facility.
To facilitate their removal, the civic body deployed security personnel at the site and also issued a strict warning that any attempt to reoccupy or regain control of the parking facility would result in criminal proceedings.
Repeated Non-Compliance Led to Final Eviction
The parking structure, built at a cost of Rs 34.63 crore and inaugurated in October, 2024 by the then Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. It was designed to accommodate 476 four-wheelers and 121 two-wheelers.
"It aimed to alleviate roadside parking congestion in the bustling Belapur node," an official from NMMC said. However, the facility saw poor response from motorists, and the contractor struggled to generate viable revenue, according to sources.
Contractor Blacklisted; Fresh Tender Floated by NMMC
"We have black listed the contractor as well. Within few days, we would finalise a new contractor," Deputy Municipal Commissioner (property) Bhagwat Doifode said
Ironically, streets surrounding the parking complex continue to suffer from chronic congestion, especially during evening hours when nearby eateries witness heavy footfall.

With the contractor formally evicted, the NMMC has now floated a new tender to appoint a suitable operator and revive the potential of the strategically located facility near Palm Beach Road, Belapur Court, and the new water transport jetty.
Police Asked to Monitor Site Post-Eviction
A copy of the eviction order has also been sent to the Senior Police Inspector of CBD Belapur Police Station for monitoring and further action if necessary.
