Navi Mumbai: In a significant boost to India’s sports infrastructure, Axis Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lakshya Shooting Club (LSC) to establish the Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club High Performance Centre (HPC) in Navi Mumbai. The state-of-the-art facility aims to support India’s top shooting talent and groom the next generation of elite athletes, including Olympic hopefuls.

The MoU was signed in Mumbai by Vijay Mulbagal, Group Executive and Head – Wholesale Bank Coverage and Sustainability, Axis Bank, and Suma Shirur, Olympian and Chairperson of Lakshya Shooting Club, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

The upcoming Shooting Centre will offer world-class infrastructure and a holistic training ecosystem. Designed to host over 400 athletes annually, the centre will cater to both resident and non-resident participants, and will be fully para-friendly—supporting para-athletes, including those who have represented India at global events such as the Paralympics and Deaflympics.

Key features of the facility include, two advanced shooting ranges for Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and a simulated 50m Rifle setup. A dedicated Sports Science Centre with performance analysis, injury prevention, and recovery systems is also a part of the facility.

A Sports Psychology unit for mental and emotional well-being and residential accommodation for athletes and coaches is also included.

Speaking on the partnership, Mulbagal said, “We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to Indian sports through this collaboration. The new centre will be a game-changer in nurturing shooting talent and enabling them to excel at the international level, including the Olympics.”

Shirur, a celebrated Olympian and Dronacharya Awardee who coached the Indian National Shooting Team to a record medal haul at the 2024 Paris Olympics, said, “This partnership brings us closer to our dream of building a world-class platform where every young shooter is empowered to succeed. Axis Bank’s support is a huge step in making that vision a reality.”
