Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Hosts Workshop On Road Construction & Traffic Management With IIT Experts

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) recently organized a specialized workshop focused on road quality enhancement and traffic management under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde.

The event, aimed at incorporating new technologies in construction to improve the quality of civil works, was held at the Knowledge Center in the NMMC headquarters. The Engineering Department, led by City Engineer Shirish Ardhwad facilitated the workshop.

The one-day workshop emphasized on better road construction, building techniques, and efficient management planning within the city. Renowned experts from IIT provided comprehensive and updated insights on various aspects of civil works quality improvement.

Professor Dharmveer Singh from IIT discussed the construction quality of bituminous and concrete roads, regional construction techniques, overlays, white-topping, and methods for quality assessment of ongoing projects. He also provided valuable information on road regional evaluations, technical aspects of sidewalk construction, and the design proposals of projects.

In addition, Professor Avijit Majhi from IIT delivered lectures on crucial topics such as traffic management, planning, incident detection and management, road safety audits, and traffic control equipment. His session helped attendees gain a deeper understanding of these key aspects of traffic safety and management.

The workshop, which took place in two sessions throughout the day, was attended by a wide range of professionals, including City Engineer Shirish Aradhwad, Assistant City Engineer Arvind Shinde, along with engineers from various departments including civil, electrical, water supply, sewage, and mechanical engineering. Road contractors and their engineers were also present, contributing to the knowledge-sharing event.

"The initiative aimed to enhance the quality of infrastructure in Navi Mumbai and ensure the delivery of better services to citizens by utilizing advanced technologies and improved planning strategies," NMMC commissioner Dr Shinde said.
