In a rare and first-of-its-kind surgical breakthrough in Navi Mumbai, doctors at a private hospital in Navi Mumbai successfully performed penile lengthening surgery on a 26-year-old man born with micropenis, a congenital condition affecting approximately 1 in 1 million men.
The patient had lived in silence and shame for years due to his underdeveloped testes, low testosterone levels, and an erect penile length of just 2.5 inches—far below the average threshold. The emotional toll was immense, affecting his confidence, relationships, and hopes for marriage and family life.
Led by Dr. Sanish Shringarpure, Urologist and Andrologist, and Dr. Ashish Sangvikar, Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, the medical team performed a combination of suspensory ligament release, V–Y advancement plasty, and suprapubic liposuction. The three-hour surgery resulted in a significant increase in erect length—to 6 inches.
“This case was not only medically complex but also emotionally sensitive,” said Dr. Shringarpure. “Patients with micropenis often suffer silently, avoiding relationships, public spaces, even urinals—just to hide their condition. Our goal was not just physical enhancement, but emotional rehabilitation.”
Genetic and hormonal evaluations revealed the patient had extremely low testosterone and elevated FSH and LH levels, indicating infertility. While micropenis can sometimes be managed in childhood with hormonal therapy, most men approach doctors only in adulthood usually when marriage is on the horizon leaving surgery as the only viable option.
“Our combination approach helped achieve both visible and functional improvement,” explained Dr. Sangvikar.
“With proper technique and counseling, most patients can lead a normal, satisfying sexual life post-surgery.”
Now discharged and recovering well, the patient expressed deep gratitude.
“For years, I felt broken. I feared no one would ever accept me,” he shared. “But the doctors at Medicover treated me with dignity. This surgery didn’t just change my body—it gave me back my confidence and future. I can now dream of marriage and a family.”
