Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has revealed important weather updates showing a low-pressure region shifting from Gangetic West Bengal to Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh, prompting Orange alerts for substantial rainfall in multiple states from July 9-14.

Post July 9, Mumbai is anticipated to see a reduction in heavy rain, shifting to lighter to moderate monsoon weather. Due to continuous rainfall on July 9, Nagpur faced significant waterlogging, leading the District Collector to suspend all schools and colleges for the day. Ayodhya also faced intense rainfall.

The weather prediction for Mumbai shows a break from heavy rain after July 9, featuring a Yellow Alert for the city, Thane, and Palghar, and an Orange Alert for Raigad. After July 10, light to moderate monsoon showers are anticipated, with the city having already experienced 28% of its usual seasonal rainfall, resulting in waterlogging and traffic issues.

Residents in low-elevation regions encounter flooding issues. Predictions indicate light rain or occasional showers until July 15, with significant rainfall anticipated until July 9, shifting to moderate rains from July 10-14 and no serious weather alerts following.

The IMD has declared orange alerts for heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, and Telangana from July 9 to 12. Intense rainfall is forecasted to continue in East and Central India, specifically in Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, until July 14, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

The Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra regions of West India will face intense rainfall, while significant rain and strong winds will affect Northeast India and South Peninsular India as well.
