After heavy rains lashed the city for the second day in a row, waterlogging was reported at a dargah near Mahul in Chembur on Wednesday. This was caused due to an overflowing nullah in the vicinity. Dirty water entered the premises, raising a stink.
The trustees of Ghaswale Baba dargah have dashed out a letter to the chief minister and BMC chief , complaining about shoddy work of the nullah contractor.
In the letter, they have stated how the newly constructed boundary walls failed to stop the rain water from entering their premises. “We had assumed that the new boundary wall was high enough to stop the water from the nullah from overflowing. But the walls had holes that made way for the water to enter the dargah premises. Due to this, the entire shrine has got dirty and has started smelling,” said Jamal Hussain Khan, president of the dargah trust.
They have also complained about the road being slippery and lack of streetlights due to waterlogging. Also, this has given rise to mosquito menace.
Meanwhile, M-west ward officer Prithviraj Chavan confirmed that he has received complaints.Prakash Kadam, the complaint officer from M-west ward said, “We sent our team from the maintenance department for inspection and cleaning work.”
