Viral Video Shows Efforts To Clear Road

A viral video of the accident site has surfaced on the internet showing the fire brigade and BMC officials engaged in efforts to clear the road by chopping of the fallen tree. Mumbai police officials can be seen managing traffic that is seen moving at a slow pace on the other side of the road.

Mumbai To Witness Heavy Rains For Next Few Days

The incident occurred as Mumbai experienced moderate to heavy showers following overnight rainfall in several areas, particularly across South Mumbai and the western suburbs. The city had recently seen a brief respite from intense rain, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of renewed wet weather in the days ahead.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for the next four days, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of the city. The advisory also applies to neighbouring districts including Thane, Raigad, Pune and Ratnagiri until August 16. The department has further predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds between 30–40 kmph at isolated locations in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad.

The combination of strong winds, saturated soil and heavy rainfall often increases the risk of tree falls in Mumbai during the monsoon season. Civic authorities have been conducting pre-monsoon tree trimming drives, but sporadic incidents continue to occur, occasionally causing injuries or damage to property.
