Mumbai: In two tragic road accidents in Mumbai, two senior citizens lost their lives after being hit by speeding vehicles—one at Mankhurd T-junction and another near Shreyas Signal on LBS Road, Ghatkopar, prompting separate police investigations.

68-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Speeding Tempo at Mankhurd T-Junction

In the first incident, 68-year-old Suman Yashwant Bhalerao, was fatally hit by a speeding tempo at Mankhurd T-junction on June 23. According to police, the unidentified driver fled the scene after the accident. A case has been registered under hit-and-run charges, and the Mankhurd Police are currently investigating.

As per the FIR, Suman Bhalerao, a resident of CGS Colony, Nityanand Nagar, Ghatkopar (West), was on her way to visit her sister Lakshmi in Maharashtra Nagar, Trombay, on June 23. Around 1:45 PM, while she was at Mankhurd T-junction, a speeding tempo struck her. She was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. A formal complaint was filed by her son, Bhimraj Bhalerao, 51.

72-Year-Old Man Succumbs to Injuries After Two-Wheeler Hits Him in Ghatkopar

In a separate incident, Shripati Ramchandra Kadam, 72, a resident of Tagore Nagar, Vikhroli (East), was critically injured after being hit by a two-wheeler near Shreyas Signal on LBS Road, Ghatkopar, on June 14 at around 3:45 PM. Kadam had gone to Ghatkopar for work when the incident occurred. He was initially admitted to Rajawadi Hospital and later shifted to Sion Hospital for further treatment.

Unfortunately, on June 21 at 9 PM, doctors declared Kadam dead. Following a complaint by his daughter, Vidya Kadam, 30, the Ghatkopar Police registered a case against the biker—identified as Shubham Nachare, a resident of Parsiwadi, Ghatkopar (West). Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
