Mumbai: The city's weather is anticipated to remain predominantly cloudy with light to moderate rain expected intermittently. The monsoon season, particularly active in July, heightens the risk of heavy rainfall in various areas. Key low-lying regions, including Mahim, Parel, Dadar, Andheri, Kurla, Bandra, Hindmata, Sion, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Powai, and Mulund, face the highest risk of waterlogging, particularly with the potential for heavy rain coinciding with high tides.

As of 9 am, Mumbai is experiencing cloudy weather with a temperature of 29°C. The precipitation is low at 5%, and humidity levels are high at 80%. Winds are blowing at 11 km/h. The weather forecast indicates that temperatures will fluctuate between 27°C and 30 °C throughout the day.

In Navi Mumbai, heavy rains are expected in Vashi, Nerul, Koparkhairane, and Ghansoli, while Thane and other suburbs may experience light to moderate rain with occasional heavy downpours. The intensity of the monsoon suggests prolonged heavy rainfall, especially along the Konkan coast, with Mumbai likely to feel the brunt.

Today's temperature in Mumbai is predicted to range from a minimum of 25-27°C to a maximum of 30-32°C. High humidity levels (80-90%) will contribute to a rather uncomfortable and sticky feeling. Rainfall is estimated at a rate of 0.2-1.7 mm per hour, with localized heavier downpours possible. Winds are expected to be moderate to strong, blowing from the northwest or southwest at speeds of 14-22 km/hr, with gusts reaching up to 25 km/hr. Sea conditions will be slightly rough, with wave heights of 0.6-1 meter.

The relative humidity is anticipated to fluctuate between 75-80%, emphasizing the discomforting atmosphere. Atmospheric pressure is likely to remain between 1001-1004 hPa. Sunrise is expected around 6:10-6:15 am and sunset around 7:15-7:20 pm. Tide timings suggest a high tide around 5:00-5:30 am (approximately 3.5-3.8 m) and another at 5:30 - 6:00 pm (approximately 4.0-4.3 m).

The interplay between heavy rain and high tide significantly heightens the chances of waterlogging in vulnerable areas, such as Dadar, Andheri, and Kurla. Consequently, residents are advised to avoid traveling through low-lying areas due to potential disruptions from heavy rain and resulting traffic issues, especially on local trains.

Heavy rains have also impacted Mumbai's suburbs and parts of Konkan and Vidarbha, causing discomfort due to rising humidity. A yellow alert has been issued by meteorological authorities for heavy rains and lightning across Madhya Maharashtra and southern districts, with warnings extending to districts in Marathwada and Vidarbha. Projections indicate above-normal rainfall in central India, especially in Maharashtra, from July 24 to 31.

A significant concern looms as heavy rains are expected to raise the flood risk across multiple states from July 18 to 25, necessitating close monitoring. The initial forecasts indicate heavy downpours in various regions including Kerala and Karnataka, as well as states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. The Jammu and Kashmir Information Department has suspended the Amarnath Yatra due to adverse weather conditions, emphasizing the ongoing risks associated with heavy rainfall.
