Mumbai: Marathi actor Tushar Ghadigaonkar (34), known for his versatile performances in one-act plays, TV serials, and films, died by suicide on Friday, June 20, reportedly due to mental stress. His last rites were conducted on Saturday afternoon at Bhandup crematorium, in the presence of friends and colleagues from the industry. He is survived by his wife, parents, and a brother.

According to a senior police officer, the incident took place in the Goregaon area, where Tushar lived in an SRA housing society. On Friday night, while he was alone at home, he allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan. Concerned neighbors broke open the door when he failed to respond to calls and knocks.

Initial investigation suggests job-related stress might have pushed him to take the extreme step. Both his wife and father have stated that they do not suspect foul play. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered and investigation is ongoing. No suicide note has been found.

Tushar spent his childhood in Bhandup and later pursued theatre actively at D.G. Ruparel College. A talented actor, writer, and director, he made a mark in the intercollegiate one-act play circuit before transitioning into television and films.

He became a familiar face through popular Marathi serials such as ‘Lavangi Mirchi’, ‘Man Kasturi Re’, and ‘Sukhachya Sarini He Man Bavare’. On the silver screen, he appeared in films like ‘Bhaubali’, ‘Unad’, and ‘Zombivli’. He was also part of the critically acclaimed play ‘Sangeet Bibat Akhyan’, and had recently featured in the ‘Sakha Majha Pandurang’ show on Sun Marathi.
