Mumbai: A 24-year-old Indian woman was allegedly gang-raped by her colleagues in Dubai on October 27, 2024. She had gone to Dubai through a Dubai-based agent, Majid, 50, in July 2023.

Sent Abroad By Known Agent For Promised Job

Initially, the agent made her stay with two women where she did household chores. Later, he gave her a job in the kitchen of a McDonald's outlet at the SEAF branch in Abu Dhabi.

The victim’s mother alleges that her five Nepali and Indonesian colleagues raped her in their room and physically assaulted her brutally in Abu Dhabi. She was first admitted to a private Cleveland hospital in Abu Dhabi and was later shifted to a government hospital in the same city.

On June 19, 2025, the McDonald’s officer deported her to Mumbai. She is currently admitted to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West. She was severely physically assaulted and is mentally traumatised; she is unable to speak to anyone.

Versova Woman Still Awaiting FIR Registration

The victim’s mother filed a complaint at the Versova police station on June 26, 2025. The Versova police forwarded the complaint to the Kandivali police station; however, an FIR has not been registered yet.

Family Struggled Financially Before Sending Her Abroad

The victim’s mother is a middle-aged woman who is divorced and lives with her three daughters in Versova. The victim is her eldest daughter, whom she sent to Dubai for work due to their poor financial condition after her husband abandoned them. To meet daily expenses, she depends on help from relatives and acquaintances. Her other two daughters are in the 10th and 12th standard.

The eldest daughter is 24-year-old and studied in an English-medium school till the 10th standard. The victim’s mother knew the agent Majid, who lured her daughter with the promise of a good job. When the victim reached Dubai, the agent made her stay with his Indonesian wife, where several other girls from different countries were also staying.

Majid promised them jobs and told the victim that her CV had been sent to good companies, assuring her that she would get a job soon. Meanwhile, he asked her to help his wife until then. She stayed there for several weeks. Later, the victim grew suspicious of Majid’s intentions.

He then shifted her to the house of his friend’s Pakistani wife, who turned out to be Majid’s second wife. There, the victim was mentally harassed by Majid. She did not tell her mother everything at the time.

Once, when her mother confronted Majid about her job, he told her that he looked at her daughter like his own child and asked her to be patient. After a few months, he provided the victim a job at the McDonald's kitchen at the SEAF branch in Abu Dhabi.

Victim Was The Only Indian Woman At Workplace

She was the only Indian woman working there. She stayed with other girls in a room near her workplace, while her male colleagues lived upstairs in the same building. Her mother claimed that the other staff members physically and mentally harassed her.

Assaulted After Being Lured To Male Colleagues’ Room

During that period, her colleague Sandeep Pali, a Nepali citizen, pretended to be sympathetic, befriended her and then physically and mentally assaulted her. He also lived with the male colleagues upstairs from the victim’s room.

On October 27, 2024, Sandeep called her to their room under the pretext of some work, where around five individuals raped her. She was not only raped but also beaten so badly that she had to be admitted to Cleveland Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Admitted Under Pretext Of Suicide Attempt, Claims Mother

Her colleagues allegedly told the doctors that she had consumed sleeping pills and attempted suicide, and they got her admitted under this pretext. She was assaulted so brutally that she could not even speak to her mother.

Mother Alerted Authorities After Victim Went Unreachable

Her mother called McDonald’s manager Salman to ask about her daughter’s whereabouts. The manager initially told her that her daughter was on medical leave. When the victim’s phone remained switched off, her mother grew suspicious and tried to contact her through the Indian Embassy.

Eventually, she received a call from the Cleveland hospital informing her that her daughter was being treated. The victim’s grandmother, who was in Dubai at the time, reached the hospital and found her granddaughter in the ICU. The grandmother returned to India after her visa expired, while the hospital shifted the victim to a government hospital.

The government hospital repeatedly contacted the victim’s mother about discharging her daughter. However, the mother could not travel to Dubai because she did not have a passport. She applied for one.

Victim Brought Back To India After 8 Months

Meanwhile, the mother claims that McDonald’s senior officer Pradip arranged her daughter’s return ticket and sent her back to Mumbai. After she was deported to Mumbai, Pradip arranged an ambulance that took her to Seven Hills Hospital.

Victim Hospitalised In Critical Condition In Kandivali

The victim’s mother further alleges that Seven Hills Hospital repeatedly asked her to discharge her daughter, but her condition was critical as she was being fed through a tube, and both her hands were stiff and immobile. She then shifted her daughter to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West, where she is currently being treated.
