Mumbai: After facing setbacks in the Assembly elections, Shiv Shiv UBT Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray has intensified his efforts to regain control over Mumbai's municipal corporation, a bastion once considered the party's stronghold. With the upcoming BMC elections in mind, Thackeray has outlined a strategic plan to ensure Shiv Sena's dominance in the city.

Thackeray has instructed the party’s former corporators and office-bearers to ramp up their efforts in the city's 227 wards. The focus will be on spreading the message of Hindutva, which he aims to bring to every doorstep in Mumbai. At a meeting held on Tuesday at his residence, Matoshree, Thackeray emphasised the importance of reaching out to voters, understanding their expectations, and garnering their support.

In preparation for the elections, Thackeray is pushing for a comprehensive party reorganisation, with plans to strengthen Shiv Sena (UBT)’s network through gatherings of group leaders, shakha chiefs and other office-bearers in Mumbai's 227 wards.

Sena UBT leader Vinayak Raut said, “Thackeray's renewed focus on party-building comes after Shiv Sena’s disappointing performance in the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. To avoid any further setbacks in the upcoming municipal elections, Thackeray has stressed the need for precise and dedicated work from party officials, urging them to focus on their respective constituencies and strengthen their presence.”

Amid discussions on strategy, there is also a conversation within Sena (UBT) about contesting the BMC elections independently. Senior party leaders have stated that the decision will be carefully considered, as the party is still weighing its options regarding alliances.

Pravina Morajkar, UBT loyalist and former corporator from Kurla, said, “Uddhav ji advised us to do such campaigning work if obstacles like EVM manipulation should not work. He also directed me to do social work wholeheartedly and reach at last level of voters of Mumbai and build strong network with them.”
