Mumbai: The city saw heavy rain in May, even before the official monsoon. Many parts of the city, like Nariman Point, Thane, and Navi Mumbai, had strong rainfall on Wednesday evening. Normally, the monsoon starts in Mumbai in June, but this year it seems to be coming early.
Mumbai residents shared many videos online showing the rain. The rain was seen in many areas such as Marine Lines, Gateway of India, and other places in South Mumbai. Along with the rain, there were thunderstorms and lightning. The strong winds also made it feel like a full monsoon had arrived.
Just a few days ago, Mumbai was facing a heatwave. The weather was very hot and dry. But now, the early rain has brought some relief from the heat. The temperature has dropped, and the air feels cooler. The rain has caused water to collect on the roads in some areas, which slowed down traffic. Still, many Mumbaikars were happy to see the rain after days of hot weather.
This rain is part of the pre-monsoon showers. Weather experts say that this is a sign the monsoon may arrive early this year. It also helps prepare the city for the full monsoon by cooling the air and settling the dust. Now, Mumbaikars is waiting for the full monsoon season to begin.
