Mumbai Rains: Light Rains Expected In City Today With Moderate Spells In Some Parts; Konkan Region Under Yellow Alert

Mumbai: The city woke up to scattered showers in several areas on Friday morning. Light rainfall was reported overnight in some parts of the city. The skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy through the day, accompanied by light showers in some areas. While the morning may see mild drizzle, moderate spells could occur in parts of the city by afternoon and evening.

Daytime temperatures are likely to hover around 30°C, with a minimum of about 27°C. Given that today marks Narali Pournima, when many people gather at beaches, officials have advised citizens to remain cautious in view of the weather conditions.

Light Rains Predicted For Surrounding Region

Neighbouring areas such as Thane and Navi Mumbai may also experience light rain during the day, with moderate showers possible later. Temperatures here are expected to range between 25°C and 30°C, and humidity levels will remain high, maintaining a sticky, warm feel. In Palghar, light to moderate rain has persisted for the past two days and is likely to continue. Heavy rainfall is not expected, but overcast skies and humidity will dominate.

Yellow Alert For Konkan Districts

Along the Konkan belt, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad districts have been witnessing moderate to heavy rain for the last two days. The IMD has extended a yellow alert for the third consecutive day in these regions, warning of heavy spells in some areas, particularly in the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible, and residents in coastal zones have been urged to take precautions.

In western Maharashtra, Kolhapur and the surrounding ghat areas may see heavy to very heavy rainfall. Pune, Satara, Sangli and Solapur are forecast to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds of 30–40 km/h. A yellow alert has been issued for all western Maharashtra districts.

North Maharashtra’s Nashik and Ahmednagar are also under a yellow alert for today, while Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon may see light to moderate showers in isolated locations.

Marathwada To Receive Heavy Rainfall

In Marathwada, all eight districts, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Latur, Nanded and Dharashiv, are expected to receive heavy showers with lightning. Beed may see heavy rain in select areas.

In Vidarbha, the districts of Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli have been placed under a yellow alert. Cloudy skies and light showers are forecast for parts of western Vidarbha.
