Mumbai: Heavy rainfall continues to lash Mumbai for the second consecutive day, causing delays in traffic and impacting flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Sunday. Airlines, including IndiGo and Akasa Air, have issued fresh advisories to passengers, urging them to account for extra travel time to reach the airport.

Akasa Air, in a statement, said:

"Due to heavy rainfall in certain parts of Mumbai and Goa, we anticipate slow-moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport. To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport well in time for your flight. Please check your flight status here: http://bit.ly/qpfltsts. "

Further, they added, "We realise that this may inconvenience your travel plans and seek your understanding."

Similarly, IndiGo Airlines has advised its passengers to stay updated on their flight schedules and leave early to avoid last-minute delays due to traffic jams and waterlogged roads.

Airport authorities also issued a travel advisory, urging passengers to plan.

"Travel Advisory: It is a rain-soaked day in Mumbai, and several roads leading to the airport are reporting delays due to heavy downpour. Please plan your journey with care and leave early if you are scheduled to travel today. Checking your flight status on our app or website in advance may also help you avoid unnecessary waiting."

The airport authority further added, "Our airport teams are prepared and are working to keep your journey moving with as little interruption as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
