In a significant administrative move, the Mumbai Police have promoted 100 Police Inspectors to the rank of Senior Police Inspector. The massive overhaul also includes wide-scale transfers and new appointments at both police station and Assistant Commissioner levels, aimed at boosting operational efficiency and leadership across the city.
Key Senior PI Postings Announced
Among those promoted and newly appointed as Senior Police Inspectors are Dnyaneshwar Aware (Dadar Police Station), Sopan Kakad (Byculla), Vilas Bhosale (Malabar Hill), Vinod Gavkar (Pydhonie), Vilas Rane (NM Joshi Marg), Sanjay Joshi (Colaba), and Yogesh Sable (MRA Marg), and 93 others.
30 Officers Elevated to ACP Rank
In addition to these promotions, 30 officers—including Sadanand Rane (Senior PI, Chembur), Rajendra Awhad (Dadar), Vishwanath Kolekar (Gamdevi), and Pandharinath Patil (Kanjurmarg)—have been elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and assigned new postings. Notably, four of these new ACPs have been appointed to the Crime Branch.
Transfers to Posts Outside Mumbai
Further changes include the transfer of 19 officers such as Prabha Raoul (Traffic Branch), Sharmila Sahasrabuddhe (Crime Branch), Neelima Kulkarni (Tardeo), Mahesh Kumar Thakur (Dongri), and Shashikant Pawar (Tilak Nagar) who have been relieved from their current duties and instructed to report to their new postings outside Mumbai.
Several internal transfers have also been made at the ACP level. Shashikant Bhosale (Andheri Division) and Mrityunjay Hiremeth (Protection & Security), along with two others, have been reassigned. Eight officers, including five women—Renuka Bagde, Manisha Ravkhande, Kusum Waghmare, Maya More, and Surekha Kapile—have also been released to report at their new postings outside the city.
Additionally, 23 Senior Police Inspectors who declined promotions to the ACP/DySP rank have been transferred to other departments. This includes Chimaji Adhav (Byculla), Ajay Afale (Dindoshi), and Ravindra Kshirsagar (Vinoba Bhave Nagar), who have now been posted in the Crime Branch.
Crime Branch Gets New Inductees
In other notable appointments, Lata Sutar from the Crime Branch will now head Pant Nagar Police Station, while Rajesh Kevle takes over as Senior PI at Chembur Police Station. Senior officers Sitaram Dubal and Ruta Nemalekar from the Economic Offences Wing have been appointed to Sagari 2 and Trombay police stations, respectively.
Senior PI Devendra Pol of the Sahar Police Station has been relieved to report at his new post in Navi Mumbai, while four newly posted Senior Inspectors have been officially assigned their respective charges within Mumbai.
