Mumbai: Powai police busted a prostitution ring and saved four aspiring actresses from a hotel in the Powai area of the city on Friday, March 14. The Powai police acted upon receiving a tip-off.
Powai Police dismantled a prominent sex racket at a hotel in the Hiranandani locality, apprehending 60-year-old Shyamsundar Arora. Four models were saved and taken to a shelter.
An official told PTI, "Following specific information, the police laid a trap at the hotel and apprehended a man, identified as Shyam Sunder Arora, for pushing women into flesh trade. Four struggling female actors were rescued."
After receiving a tip, Powai Police started a hunt of a high-profile prostitution ring at a hotel in the Hiranandani locality. Powai police was successful in arresting 60-year-old Shyamsundar Arora who is responsible for forcing women to work in the prostitution ring. Four models who wanted to work as actresses were rescued and taken to a shelter.
The Powai police caught the racket by employing a fake customer and took the suspect under custody and confiscated eight mobile phones along with ₹3 lakh in cash. Another individual is being pursued as a suspect. Shyamsundar Arora has been charged under sections of ITPA and BNS.
One of the victims has been involved in Hindi television shows. The police official mentioned that a case was filed against the accused individual and his associate under the sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act at the Powai Police Station, stating that an investigation was ongoing.
