Mumbai: Agencies in Mumbai and surrounding coastal areas around Mumbai were put on alert on Thursday after the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, as per a police official. The Maharashtra Home Department has instructed the Mumbai police to increase vigilance at sea.

The attack, which was carried out by terrorists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, is one of the deadliest in the valley and claimed a total of 26 lives, mostly tourists and left several others injured.

An official said that all senior police officers have been asked to 'remain alert' in their jurisdictions, adding that security checkpoints have been established at various areas of India's financial capital.

“All senior Police Inspectors (SPIs) and Zonal Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) are instructed to remain more alert and vigilant in their jurisdictions,” he said, adding that police are “conducting nakabandis” across the city.

Meanwhile, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team on Thursday visited the residences in Dombivali in Thane district of three persons killed in the Pahalgam terror attack and made inquiries with their kin, officials said here.

“The NIA team spoke to the kin of the deceased persons,” an official said. The NIA is providing assistance to J-K police probing Tuesday's dastardly terrorist attack.
