Mumbai: In a move to address complaints related to passenger vehicles such as autorickshaws, taxis, Ola-Uber cabs, and other transport vehicles, the Maharashtra Transport Department has launched a dedicated toll-free helpline — 1800-220-110 — for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced this initiative in the State Assembly today, stating that the helpline will help citizens report issues like fare refusal, rude driver behavior, overloading, driving without a displayed badge, and overcharging.

The minister further informed that a 24-hour control room has been set up at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Andheri (Mumbai West), to monitor and respond to the complaints received. For the first time, such a dedicated service has been launched for citizens by the Transport Department.

Complaints received on the helpline will be forwarded via email to the concerned regional offices. Offending vehicle owners will be issued notices and appropriate action will be taken after a hearing. Vehicles found guilty will be blacklisted, and no further official processing related to these vehicles will be conducted until penalties are settled.

This system will continue to operate effectively, and citizens across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region are encouraged to make use of the helpline to report any issues regarding autorickshaws, taxis, app-based cabs, or passenger buses.

Minister Sarnaik appealed to the public to use the toll-free service to help the Transport Department ensure smoother and more reliable commuting in the city.
