Mumbai: The Vinoba Bhave Nagar Police have successfully cracked an auto-rickshaw theft case in Kurla by arresting a habitual offender, Mohammad Sagir Abdul Majid Siddiqui, alias Maggi,27. During his interrogation, police uncovered his involvement in two additional cases of motorcycle theft.
According to police officials, Deepakkumar Sahu, a 22-year-old rickshaw driver residing in Patelwadi, Kurla (West), had parked his rickshaw near the HDIL building on the night of May 28. When he returned, the vehicle was missing. Based on his complaint, police registered a case against an unidentified person and launched an investigation.
With the help of technical evidence and local intelligence, police tracked down and apprehended Mohammad Sagir, also known as Maggi. Upon thorough interrogation, he confessed to the theft, and the stolen auto-rickshaw was recovered from his possession.
Further investigation revealed his involvement in two more vehicle thefts—both motorcycles—which have also been recovered. Police stated that a total of three theft cases were solved with Maggi’s arrest, and vehicles worth approximately ₹1.70 lakh were recovered.
