Mumbai: A serious security scare unfolded at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) after a note was found inside the incoming IndiGo flight threatening to blow up aircraft arriving from Chandigarh. Upon receiving the threat, the Sahar Police registered an offence and launched an investigation into the matter.

IndiGo’s Flight 6E 6382 departed from Chandigarh at 12.51pm on Tuesday received a bomb threat while the aircraft was air borne on its way to Mumbai. According to deputy commissioner of police (Zone-8) Manish Kalwaniya, a note was found inside the toilet of the aircraft. A source related to the airport revealed that the information about the threat was provided to Mumbai Airport’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) by the airline’s crew on board.

As soon as the aircraft landed at CSMIA at 3.01pm, it was moved to an isolation bay and all the passengers were safely deboarded according to the standard security protocol. A thorough search was conducted by police and security agencies, but no suspicious object was found onboard.

Police have registered an FIR against an unknown individual and launched an investigation into the matter. Efforts are underway to trace the perpetrator, though no breakthrough has been reported yet.

The incident prompted a swift response from aviation and security officials, and all standard operating procedures (SOPs) were strictly followed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of our customers. The safety of our customers is our highest priority, and we remain dedicated to ensuring a secure and smooth travel experience for all,” said the airline.
